Cultural Arts Classes
Dance, Regalia and Drum Classes 1st & 2nd Year Dance Students will be focusing on the basics of their dance styles along with learning 3rd & 4th Year Dance Students will focus on excelling in their dancing by studying more styles of dance and other dancers, and combining this with what they already know. At the end of the year the students will perform at the "Dance Class and Volunteer Honoring." The Regalia Making Class is open to all new and experienced regalia makers of all ages. Our Regalia Making Instructor, Roanne Littlelight, has 20 years of bead work and sewing experience. Supplies are very limited, however we will help with what we can. It is recommended that if you are able please bring as much of your own supplies as possible. We do have a couple sewing machines on hand, however if you have your own you are more than welcome to bring it in with you. Schedule 5:30-6:45: Intermediate Drumming 7:00-8:00: Beginning Drumming 6:00-8:00: Regalia Making Class 6:00-6:45: 1st and 2nd year Dance 7:00-7:45: 3rd and 4th year Dance Advanced Drumming Class on Friday Nights: Fridays from October 20, 2007 – May 23rd, 2008 Monthly Culture Classes
These classes are held once a month from and explore a different topic each month. Classes range from a field trip to the art museum to basket weaving and drum making. Classes are geared towards 4th-8th grade students, but all youth are welcome! Upcoming Monthly Culture classes:
Wednesday, October 24th, 5:30 pm-7:30 pm: Loom Beading Saturday, November 3rd, 12:00pm-10:00 pm: Field trip to Mt. Hood Community College Powwow

The Native American Youth and Family Center would like to give a special thank you to Rebecca, Kyle, and Colleen Payne for all of their hard work and dedication to the dance class. Over the past four years they have made the dance class the exceptional program that it is, and assisted many families in learning about their Tribes and traditions.
