Youth Advocacy and Engagement

Youth have the opportunity to work one-on-one with an advocate who can provide academic, educational and wellness support by utilizing holistic assessments and case plans based on the relational worldview model.

Services include:

• Wraparound case management and advocacy services ensuring youth success and family stability.
• College visitations, life-skills workshops, employment skill building, and scholarship/financial aid workshops.
• Academic success through school-based tutoring and after-school homework support.
• Groups are formed to build culturally relevant skills, and to increase cultural pride and identity.
• Incentives, stipends, summer meals, meals during the school year, after-school snacks, clothing, hygiene items, school supply vouchers, and monetary assistance are available for participating youth.

• Transportation is available, including bus tickets or van rides.

Family Night

During the school year, the last Wednesday of the month is Family Night at NAYA. Families are invited to have a meal together and enjoy a fun, educational activity. Family Night also serves as a time for parents to meet with the direct services staff to learn about their children's achievements.

Native clubs

NAYA Family Center sponsors clubs in many of Portland's middle schools. These groups will meet to work on specific projects, focusing on cultural identity and tradition. We welcome inquiries from students interested in creating clubs at their schools.
