Camps and seasonal programming

NAYA Youth Services offers many seasonal programs and camps focused on academic and cultural enrichment. Seasonal camps include a a high school summer institute, a middle school and upper primary grade summer camp, a 3-day winter camp, and spring break camp focusing on math, science, and cultural knowledge. All activities are hands-on and field trip based. These programs are free to qualifying students.

Summer Camp

July–August 2013, dates TBD
Monday–Friday, 9:30–4pm

For students entering 3rd–8th grade
in the Fall of 2013

 

Camp Information

Summer Camp is a free program for incoming 3rd-8th grade students. Participants will work to build their language arts and math core content through classroom instruction, develop communication skills, explore their leadership strengths, and each week go on fun field-trips. Activities will include cultural arts classes, sports skill-building, and  recreational time. Breakfast and lunch is provided each day.

Application Deadline TBD

Incoming 3rd-8th grade students with a completed NAYA intake (clearing them for participation in NAYA programs) are eligible to apply. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

9th Grade Leaders

July–August 2013, dates TBD
Monday & Wednesday–Friday, 9:30am–4pm
Tuesday, 9am–4pm

For students entering 9th grade in the Fall of 2013

 

Camp Information

9th Grade Leaders is a free summer program that focuses on improving leadership and academic skills through experiential education. Students may be eligible to receive high school credit. Activities will include college and business visits every Wednesday, and fun fieldtrips every Friday. The program is 5 weeks and occurs Monday through Friday. Breakfast and lunch is provided everyday.

Incoming 9th grade students with a completed NAYA intake (clearing them for participation in NAYA programs) are eligible to apply. Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Summer Ascend:
High School Credit Recovery & College/Career Exploration

July–August 2013, dates TBD
Monday–Friday, 9am–2:35pm
For students entering10th–12th grade in the Fall of 2013

 

Camp Information

Summer Ascend is a free program for incoming 10th-12th grade students who have struggled with passing Language Arts and Math. Classes run for 6 weeks and are held Monday through Friday, between 9am to 2:35pm, depending upon how many classes you sign up for. Students are assigned a Youth Advocate while they are engaged in the program in order to provide encouragement and to better ensure success.

Applications are due June 15

In order to qualify, applicants must submit: a complete application, letter of recommendation, high school transcript, and NAYA Intake (will be given upon acceptance). Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Middle & Grade School Spring Break Camp

More information will be available Spring 2013

NAYA's Spring Break Camp will focus on education and literacy projects in preparation for NAYA's "One Book, One Community" Program. In addition to these activities students will participate in Native American themed cultural arts projects. The camp will also include healthy living and Forestry education and recreational activies aimed at increasing physical activity. Camp participants will also have an opportunity to go on fieldtrips. Breakfast and lunch will be provided for participating students.

High School Spring Break Camp

More information will be available Spring 2013

Join us for our High School Spring Break Camp!  We will engage in life skills activities and focus on college and career readiness Monday and Tuesday. The highlight of the camp will include going to Rockaway Beach for an overnight stay Wednesday and Thursday, returning Friday. Many activities include a visit to the Forestry Center, cultural arts, canoeing, xtreme cliff swing, and many more indoor/outdoor actvities!
