The Healing Circle

The Healing Circle works to keep Native families safe and to educate Native people in an effort to end the silence around domestic and sexual violence. We believe that the threat of violence has not always been the norm in Native families and we know that many of our Tribes and Nations had strict codes about how to deal with this issue. The goal of the Healing Circle is to help our Native peoples to re-learn these cultural traditions and put an end to Domestic Violence in our Native communities. No one should have to live in fear in his or her own home.

We support families impacted by domestic and sexual violence by providing advocacy, co-advocacy in domestic violence shelters, referrals, and support groups.  We work with local programs to facilitate safety planning, provide transportation when needed, emergency hotel vouchers, and assure the practice of culturally relative servicesin local shelters. We also provide assistance with  filling out and filing Temporary Restraining Orders, Child Custody Orders, as well as housing and benefit issues.
