NCES Goals

To assist Native American individuals to

  • ensure their success in the job market

  • improve their economic security and self-sufficiency

  • obtain necessary education to accomplish career goals

  • build and strengthen the economic well-being of the Portland Native community

Services include

  • Resume/cover letter writing support

  • Job readiness skill building and work experience opportunities

  • Developing effective communication techniques for interviewing and job searches

  • Financial education/money management training

  • Transportation assistance for qualified participants

  • Support for obtaining tools, equipment, education, and clothing required to obtain and/or sustain employment

NCES employment specialists are committed to providing support throughout training and into employment by providing

  • Community service projects and community internships

  • Useful information and training

  • Positive encouragement

  • Access to housing and social service resources

  • Cultural awareness and support
