AmeriCorps*VISTA Youth Services Analyst
Position Description
Summary of Position: The VISTA Youth Services Analyst will work directly with the Youth Services staff and with other VISTA members to assist the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA Family Center) in building organizational capacity. The VISTA Youth Services Analyst will assist in the development of strategies to refine and enhance NAYA Family Center’s client assessment and case management processes, and capabilities for managing resources. Systems refinement will increase NAYA Family Center’s efficiency and effectiveness and allow NAYA to reach its agency goal of improving Native American family stability and promoting Native American self-sufficiency in the Portland Metro Area. Duties and Responsibilities: The VISTA Youth Services Analyst will work directly with Direct Services Manager and the Youth Services Department staff in in developing robust infrastructure for the department in the areas of program planning, outreach and recruitment systems and program evaluation. This person will participate in the following activities: A: Assist in completion of a program planning needs assessment with departmental staff. B: Develop program planning resource binders for Cultural Arts and Sports, Tutoring Center, Foster Care, Independent Living Program, High School, Middle School, Gang Prevention/Intervention, Summer Institute and MASAP programs. C: Assist the Practice Based Evidence Research Project in assessment and creation of new program evaluation processes D: Assist in a needs assessment specific to Youth Services with regards to the selection of a new agency-wide client database. E: Assist in the creation of a standardized system for Youth Services client outreach and recruitment. Preferred Qualifications: This position requires solid research and writing experience and data management skills. Pertinent background may include general business experience and/or an educational background in business, administration, accounting, technology systems, and/ or previous non-profit experience. Additional qualifications sought include: • Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills. • Detail oriented, preferably with strong analytical skills. • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite and proficient at data entry and systems applications. • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, the System Life Cycle and PMBOK methodologies • Knowledge and experience in nonprofit agencies is preferred. • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, Native culture and issues. • Spirit of cooperation and ability to work as part of a team. |
