AmeriCorps*VISTA Housing/Employment Resource Analyst
Position Description Summary of Position: The VISTA Housing/Employment Resource Analyst will work with other VISTA members to assist the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA Family Center) in building organizational capacity. The VISTA Housing/Employment Resource Analyst will assist in the research and development of strategies to enhance NAYA Family Center’s capacity and capabilities for determining both housing and employment resources. Systems enhancement will increase NAYA Family Center’s efficiency and effectiveness and allow NAYA to reach its agency goal of improving Native American family stability and promoting Native American self-sufficiency in the Portland Metro Area. Duties and Responsibilities: The VISTA Housing/Employment Resource Analyst will work directly with the staff in the Housing/Employment Services Department in meeting the overall goal of researching and identifying established practices and projects appropriate to the needs of the clients. This person will participate in the following activities: A: Aid in the research and development of an asset management system to accommodate future acquisitions and incorporate the long term strategic goal of the agency to provide affordable housing. B: Assist in the research required to form a Community Development Financial Institution to create greater community access to funding. C: Support the development of Home Ownership by participating in the research and development of loan programs, level subsidies, land trust, and second mortgages. D: Assist in the identification of social enterprise systems that include business development, tax credits, and employee training programs from entry level to marketable skills. Preferred Qualifications: This position requires solid research and writing experience and data management skills. Pertinent background may include general business experience and/or an educational background in business, administration, accounting, technology systems and/or previous non-profit experience. Additional qualifications sought include: • Excellent communication, writing and organizational skills. • Detail oriented, preferably with strong analytical skills. • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office Suite and proficient at data entry and systems applications. • Knowledge and experience in nonprofit agencies is preferred. • Knowledge of, or willingness to learn about, Native culture and issues. • Spirit of cooperation and ability to work as part of a team. |
